The 'whip of love' has been used for 'educational' purposes in South Korea for hundreds of years - until footage of a primary school teacher assaulting a pupil was released on the internet.

Kim Yeoung-Hwa, an educational writer and former teacher believes stringently in corporal punishment "to say that you can teach a student without it is wrong", she claims. After a recent incident where a teacher used a powerful blow often seen in martial arts movies, officials have been forced to ban the practice. However, many teachers and parents are fighting back - arguing that without corporal punishment, there will be chaos. Others say that South Korean society is changing and that education must change with it: "giving orders and beatings are no longer appropriate", says Principal Lee Breom-Hee, an advocate of the ban. His students seem to agree with him - "being hit, being forced to do things...I don't want that", one student concludes.

  • FUCK korean education shitty bitches.

19세기에 교육을 처받은 새끼들한테 지금 21세기 새로운 세데의 애들을 가르치냐??ㅋㅋ

야이 개새끼들아 니네 자식들이 그렇게 맞았다고 생각해봐 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ fuckin bitches i can blow all their wife's pussy lol

  • Shaking or pushing children or hitting them about the head is dangerous and unacceptable. But beating them on the buttocks is beneficial as part of a disciplinary system, I hope they don't ban it.

  • Ouch ... Those punishments looks brutal 0_o pity those kids there

  • @lunchbox455 More than embarrassing it's a sign of a tragically low class people. For all this "necessary-for-learning" corporal punishment I have never known Korea to be respected as a country of really intelligent people. After seeing this vid I believe South Koreans are a lesser people - shame on them and their perverse ideas.

  • Do the South Koreans think it's ok to cane and humilate a child when the child has learning disabilites?

  • I wish they would do a follow up story on this subject.

  • How quaint...a nation of low-testosterone, pot-bellied cowards trespassing on and doing violence to their weak, frail children. Embarrassing.

  • @limdongcheol If you have to ask that question I suggest you go back to teacher training college and re-do the class on student management and control tactics. I will concede hoever, that if proper behaviour is not instilled in the home before children reach school age then it is an upward struggle.

  • @suzannesadiiqa - like what? I've taught in some of the worst schools in the UK and if a students doesn't want to do something - including a detention or extra work - and they won't.

  • @xomgestherchoii No it hasn't. Daegu and many other areas can still use it.
