  • Boys,

To improve machining characteristics, dimensional and mechanical properties, hot rolled steel (HRS) undergoes additional processes.

After descaling, HRS is pulled (drawn) at room temperature (i.e. Cold-Drawn) through a carbide die.

The die reduces the cross section of the original bar and increases the length of the original product. The drawn product is referred to as Cold Drawn or Cold Finished (CFS)

The drawn bars are straightened, using rollers, at room temperature. (CRS)

  • @kuei1248 LOL.. I suggest you look up cold roll process buddy. the process of cold roll steel is rolled through rollers...if it is above a certain temp it is called hot roll, if it is below it is called cold roll...pushed through rollers.. Just look it up man..

  • why not use a roughing endmill with coolant, followed by a finishing tool and be done in about 2 passes? It'd probably take about the same amount of time, and instead of dulling the nice carbide endmill that costs at least $60-70, you'd have not even begun to dull the HSS rougher in that one pass. Then follow up with one pass with that nice carbide endmill. Seems a bit easier to me, and no need for complicated codes. 2 passes, done.

  • @kuei1248 shut up it is cold rolled not formed

  • the concept is good. but i see that the clamping is through a vice.

if i am not wrong, you have machined one face and then have to rotate it to get the second face machined.

have u thought of a better clamping mechanism?

  • @kuei1248 .....hXXp://en.wikipedia (d0t) org/wiki/Cold_formed_steel

Replace XX with TT. Replace (d0t) with period. delete spaces. Realize you are wrong like most people.

  • @kuei1248 I never said there wasn't cold formed steel ..I'm saying they guy in the vid stated it was cold roll steel..and there is such a thing..

  • @devon197137 I suggest you look up cold formed steel.

  • @devon197137 ...Go ask your steel MANUFACTURER. There is NO WAY to ROLL cold steel into shape. It is a process only done for hot steel. YOU look it up. Cold steel is FORMED. The proper term is COLD FORMED STEEL. Or, CFS.
