Ecologist D. Bruce Means discusses his new book, Staling the Plumed Serpent. Based on his more than 40 years of field research, the author reveals the biological complexity and exquisite beauty of animals that he has studied all over the world. Most people loathe these reptiles and amphibians, but Means paints stories of his love and admiration for creatures that go bump in the night. • I currently checked this book out of my school library, and I thought it was pretty good. I'm really interested in snakes, and herpetology, so this was a perfect choice.

  • Whoever wants to be herpetologist like ^w^

  • love this book. i love the creepy crawlies of our world = ]

  • I recieved the book for my birthday. I can't put it down. It makes you feel like your are out in the feild hunting snakes, which is wonderful. You see the world through Bruce's eyes in which you can share inthe beauty and love of these reptiles.

  • Bruce, Your my hero! My nine year old daughter and I watch your shows over and over. Please keep up the good work!

  • Hello, Bruce, from one of the many hundreds of grateful folks to whom you have introduced the marvels of herpetiles, both in the field, and now, in this wonderfully written book. My husband and I have both enjoyed "Serpent". I know it is "right out of your heart", and indeed, it does succeed in communicating the excitement of science and the beauty of discovery. You have a gift for doing so, and it has changed our lives. Thank you, and the best of holiday wishes for you, Kathy, and family.

  • I read this book last month and really enjoyed it. Dr. Means is a great story teller and you really get the sense of how he felt in the moment. A great read for fans of herps and those who like to read in the popular science genre.
