MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Thousands of people gathered in up to 100 cities nationwide on Saturday, Oct. 17, to protest media bias that favors the progressive Obama government, omits facts about government corruption and lies about those trying to call them on it. Protesters noted that it is time for the media to put the interests of American citizens and the principles embodied in the U.S. Constitution first, and do their job to report the facts about what government is doing and plans to do.

Saturday's event, Operation Can You Hear Us Now?, was organized by citizens who went to Washington, D.C., on Sept. 12 to protest the unconstitutional direction of the U.S. government and were later upset by the general lack of media coverage of the event, which drew anywhere from 1.2 million to 1.8 million people. Fox News was the only news network to fully and accurately cover the event, while most other networks that gave any mention of the peaceful gathering grossly misinterpreted and misrepresented the intentions of protesters.

"We've packed Town Hall meetings, local TEA Party events and even Washington, D.C., but you wouldn't know it if you were home reading and watching 'mainstream media.' They obviously need our help," event organizers said on their Facebook page. "Join 'Operation: Can You Hear Us Now?' and help make sure the media hears our voices."

The event in Manchester, N.H., was one of about 100 planned protests across the country, and attracted anywhere from 50 to 75 people outside WMUR-9 TV studios downtown. The general idea on attendants' minds was that the media should do more investigative work on the things government is planning and doing, and they should communicate their findings to us objectively. Commentary and straight reporting should be clearly labeled. Soundbites and other comments from politicians should be used sparingly.

For the record, I participated in the protest, but also filmed and participated in the following videos, thus they can be categorized as journalistic commentary. Please view them to get a better sense of the protest and what people were saying.

  • They Hear Us Now!

  • Don't ever give up on New Hampshire, my friend. We are the last oasis of light in a sea of darkness. Hopefully, we are also the start of a counter revolution for liberty.

  • NH was ruined in 2006 when the liberals rode the wave of 'hate Bush' . Many good NH conservatives who kept this state the #1 place to live and had nothing to do with Bush were voted out by slim margins. People only punished themselves by doing this. Never underestimate the dumbness of the people.

  • Many folks in the traditionally strong red state areas (West and South) view the Northeast as irretrievably lost to big government liberals. This is a wonderful reminder of the fierce traditional patriotism that is alive and well in that region. As a response to the most serious threat in our lifetime (in the form of this socialist administration) to our individual liberty and freedom, there is a massive groundswell of patriotic fury sweeping this nation. This socialist crap will be defeated.

  • I first realized the media was lying to me when I became interested in immigration.

The media claims the issue is insoluble.

In 1995 Sen Barbara Jordans bi partisan commision came up with a dozen solutions. One was an ID card only to be used for applying for a job or benefits. Illegals only come for jobs & benefits. None of her ideas were implemented. We are still told by the media no one can solve the issue other than another amnesty. The media is our enemy.
