Upon encountering this piece for the first time in the year nineteen hundred ninety-six, I spent many sleepless nights pondering the identity of the Mr. Vega frequently referred to by Sir Tayda Tay and company. Who was this man? Was he a man at all? The forename Garcia suggested a male of Hispanic origin, but I was not one to stereotype as one who hails from the land free of sucka[s]. Much to my chagrin, I discovered Garcia Y Vega shortly after during a merry jaunt to my local spirits merchant.
