Dieting has become a national obsession. It is estimated that over 50% of the population is overweight, many of them severely. Obesity has been linked to a wide variety of health concerns and diseases. The causes of obesity are many, but include an over-consumption of food and the excess ingestion of the wrong type of foods for certain metabolisms. Obesity contributes to the deaths of far more people than substance abuse, yet the obesity problem and the causes of obesity have been largely overlooked. Many people begin their path to obesity by becoming overweight at a very young age. Often this becomes a life-long problem that the individual never gains control over. The weight loss business is enormous, with many tens of millions invested by desperate dieters every year. Popular programs such as Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Nutri-Systems, and others offer various programs of counseling and special food products. What most of these programs lack is that they dont take into consideration the fact that the metabolism of each person can be different and as such, a one-size-fits-all concept. Also, popular programs such as Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and Nutri-Systems, rarely offer maintenance programs so that dieters will not continually regain lost weight over and over again. There are many types of diets such as a low fat diet, low calorie diets, low carbohydrate diets and even starvation diets. These various programs can all work for the short time but if the diet program does not match the metabolism of the dieter, their success will be limited as the benefit from the starvation concept becomes less and less effective. Millions of people are constantly seeking weight loss help. They go from one diet plan to another such as Starvation Diets, Low Fat Diets, Low Calorie Diets, Low Carbohydrate Diets, and others only to eventually fail over and over again. Weight loss guidance is big business but flaws such as starvation dieting, a lack of maintenance guidance, and lack of compliance or cheating make these various diet programs set up for failure. Many people, in a, desperate attempt to lose weight, will go from program to program, many times regaining more weight than they lost in the first place. Lets take a look at some of these obvious diet flaws. Many low calorie diets provide too few calories over a long period of time. This results in a slowing of the metabolism that is triggered by starvation hormones produced within the body chemistry. This starvation hormone process is designed to conserve energy and fuel so that the body may survive the period of starvation. The only way to prevent this is to vary the amount of calories ingested frequently, during the program. The next flaw in most diet programs is the failure to provide guidelines for maintaining weight loss. The infamous yoyo dieters who lose weight and then regain it over and over are actually damaging their metabolism in the process. This is why it often becomes harder and harder to lose weight each time it is regained. Lastly, dieters are almost never taught how to properly cheat or splurge when dieting. Lets face it; we all will cheat on any diet simply because of the desire to have our favorite forbidden foods. What we are rarely taught is that there is a right and a wrong way to cheat. Cheating on a diet program should be done properly in order to minimize the effect it has on the dieter. In our new Dr. Whiting weight loss challenge, we will be addressing these common pitfalls of dieting and teaching you how to overcome these issues. Our weight loss challenge will not require you to buy specially prepared foods. Instead we will teach you how to make the best choices for your body type. Our weight loss challenge will provide you with one-on-one with an Institute of Nutritional Science advisor, who will support you and answer questions as you go along. Most importantly, we will be available to adjust or modify your program as your metabolism changes through the weight loss process. The results of working with over 4,000 individuals for over 5 years has taught us a lot about the complications of weight loss and in our new program, we will be sharing what we have learned so that you dont have to make the same mistakes as millions of other dieters have done in the past.
