This video has been recorded in Brcko, hospital "Sv. Vasilije Veliki" (Republic of Srpska, BiH) during the war in Bosnia. It contains explicit video material; open heart surgery performed by Dr Dragan Pajic (one of two surgeons in the whole hospital during the war period). Video has been captured unawares; one cameraman was in the hospital just at the time when injured solder has been carried. Solder was hit directly into his heart (left atrium)! He survived, but he was killed few months after recovery.

  • His heart was still beating, but why was there no blood ???

  • @nobletarabas1 Yes it was still beating, but they closed the wound (5:14 - 6:12) so there was no more bleeding after. Luckily he didn't lose to much blood...

  • @DusanPajic I mean the coagulated blood in the thorax sealed the wound and the pressure of the whole blood in the thorax hold it in the position. So he can still bleeding in the thorax but not outside. This seems to be the best explenation for me to be.

  • @nobletarabas1 Sorry for the delay. Yes, you are right!

The pressure from the blood in thorax sealed a wound and reduced bleeding very much indeed, but it also reduced heart efficiency (pressure around the heart muscle: making the heart to stop beating in a short period of time). He was lucky enough to come at time and this operation saved his life.

  • ah I knew seemed to speak Romanian

  • @lucian875 nope, Serbian language is spoken in this video.

  • @DusanPajic Oh, I think I know it now....... The pressure of the whole blood in the thorax sealed the wound. Right ?!? Like a bottle of wine

  • @DusanPajic Thank you for your quick answer, but I mean the time between 0:53 - 1:54. It looks like a human out of a bodybag, no longer alive. Sorry, my english is not as good as it should be. Rasumjes sta me muci ? Kako to ide ?

  • good work.doc

  • @originalgrump100 That is only your opinion, because you obliviously don't know enough about war, war surgery and heart injuries. Although the procedure was started without a mask, patient survived and those people saved his life at the last moment.

  • @sherry1139 thanks a lot...
