Just barely rooted, like 1'/2 inch roots should be ok, just start on relatively low nutrient TDS - say around 250ppm then, if it's a vegetative plant up to around 500-800. That's the way I do my basil and gynura plants. Tomato or other budding plants - up to 1500 to 1800 ppm has worked great for me. Thanks for the comment!

How were you able to create such perfect holes that large for the two pots?

I use a RotoZip tool with a circle attachment - but it still ain't easy! Ya have to be REAL careful. If you could see up close you would notice small flaws but who gives a hoot - as long as it works!

@rwkleinman Looks good...when running the DWC do you leave the system running 24/7? Even when there is no light?

Yes, 24/7. The roots need oxygen at night too to stay healthy.

Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Grow in this one + a shot of Liquid Karma. Yeah, ya gotta have Karma! I'm telling you though, I am switching many of my systems to DWC - getting a constant supply of nutrition and plenty of air seems to be the best for rapid growth. Besides, these systems cost practically nothing to build and are a snap to maintain!
