This is my submission to WMMR and Yuengling's "Yuengs, Strings, and a Fling" contest. Hit "more info" for lyrics and tech details.

This is me playing an original song out on my back porch, joined my some of the local weirdness you can only find in the South Jersey Woods. If you're a Preston and Steve listener, you want to watch in HD if possible, there are lots of "easter eggs", some really obvious, some.. not so much. I've been listening to Preston since the WDRE days.. this is actually the first contest I've entered!

TECH DETAILS

Being a geek and gearhead, I figured others might be interested in what I did (whether to copy it or avoid it, that's your call). I shot on my back porch, from a tripod, obviously, in high-def 1080/60i with Hitachi DZ-BD70A AVCHD Blu-Ray camcorder. The live recording didn't come out too well, and I hadn't really finished the song by then either. I recorded to a sync track with a Tascam DR-1 flash recorder with built-in and AKG D3500 mic, Martin D-15 guitar (doubled with mic and Dean Markley soundhole pickup), Lee Oskar harmonica (recorded using Audix FireBall mic). Edited and mixed (a bit hastily...) in Sony Vegas Pro 9.0. Uploaded in 720/30p AVC MP4.

That's MacK in one one of the B&W photos, Dale Larson in another, and Mike Rivers in both... I think they're from the late 80s... "way back when", and on the back porch, like the song says.

Oh, and with a little time with Reaper and some plugins, I could produce the urine out of that song. This OC'ed Quad-core would make short work of the soundfile render.

If you want to play with the raw files, anytime. I'd probably do a few over... I know the song SO much better now, I did this all in just over a week. I also found a Fostex digital portastudio-type 8-tracker at a yard sale, which would have improved my outdoor/garage methods, over the Tascam pocket unit (it's really a field recorder, not really intended for studio-type work).
