In june 2008 I came up with the idea of doing something for human rights in China at the ocasion of the Beijing Olympics. This documentary is the result.
It must not be seen as a protest against the Olympics, but rather as an attempt to make you reflect about what is going on in China, a country where still - according to a Chinese MP - 10.000 people are executed per year.
A considerable part of this docu is about Hu Jia, one of the most wel-known human rights activists in China. A large part of my documentary uses footage, shot by Hu Jia and produced by his wife Zeng Jinyan. I'm also indebted by, among others, Terra, oa vivo, SoTV, Peaceful Initiatives and Reuters. Last but not least: the music is composed by Tan Dun and Yo Yo Ma.
I hope you will take the time to watch my film and maybe take up a more reserved way of thinking about the matter.
