Copenhagen: Do You Trust The Bankers and Politicians or The Scientists?

Considering how the fear of global warming is inspiring the world's politicians to put forward the most costly and economically damaging package of measures ever imposed on mankind, it is obviously important that we can trust the basis on which all this is being proposed. Last week two international conferences addressed this issue and the contrast between them could not have been starker.

The first in Copenhagen, billed as "an emergency summit on climate change" and attracting acres of worldwide media coverage, was explicitly designed to stoke up the fear of global warming to an unprecedented pitch. As one of the organisers put it, "this is not a regular scientific conference: this is a deliberate attempt to influence policy".

What worries them are all the signs that when the world's politicians converge on Copenhagen in December to discuss a successor to the Kyoto Protocol, under the guidance of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), there will be so much disagreement that they may not get the much more drastic measures to cut carbon emissions that the alarmists are calling for.

Thus the name of the game last week, as we see from a sample of quotations, was to win headlines by claiming that everything is far worse than previously supposed. Sea level rises by 2100 could be "much greater than the 59cm predicted by the last IPCC report". Global warming could kill off 85 per cent of the Amazon rainforest, "much more than previously predicted". The ice caps in Greenland and Antarctica are melting "much faster than predicted". The number of people dying from heat could be "twice as many as previously predicted".

None of the government-funded scientists making these claims were particularly distinguished, but they succeeded in their object, as the media cheerfully recycled all this wild scaremongering without bothering to check the scientific facts.

The EPA is running a pretty neat scam. Just declare CO2 a hazard to public health. Then start making laws without congress, thereby bypassing the people completely. Nice power grab if you can get away with it. Gets rid of that whole messy voting thing. After all the little people are not smart enough to know whats good for them. Besides think of all the money to be made by taxing energy use around the whole globe. They can't wait to start milking that cash cow.

I agree that we must do something against pollution, but the governement using fear and lies as a weapon to take total control is just bullshit and people need to stay critical. They never trust politicians when it comes to other things, yet they all believe them when they say that humans are the mane cause of climate change. While any sain person knows it's a natural thing. This planet has been warming up and cooling down far millions of years. I blame schooling for indoctrination of people

Of all the politicians... Al Gore creeps me out. There are others, sure. But this guy makes me shiver. People need to wake up and say No thank you to elite/dictator globalists like Al Gore.

Ever since I heard of this ludicrous global warming nonsense 12 years ago, I've said it was rubbish. Contrary to what the elite tell you, the evidence is overwhelmingly against the theory of man made global warming. It is madness to legislate on pretext of glorified fortune telling. To think that we are meant to be in the age of reason. But then it wasn't that long ago that we were burning witches, so do you really think we've become that more rational?

I have a Car 36 mpg a scooter 125 mpg I have a programable thermostat. Who here is doing more to save gas? Or will you just pay eco-taxes and keep living the same way?

The evidence is contradicting earlier findings. There is Climate Gate. But that doesn't bother the Left wingers. What's in it for me? I get to keep some of my pay. My children have a chance of an America I once knew. The Dollar may survive!

Shifting the pH upwards until the degree of alkalinity becomes toxic to some organisms?or Can't that make other chemical constituents such as ammonia toxic as well? So WHY do you want to find something different than NASA? What's in it for you?

CO2 is higher after the warming not before. This is because there is more life in a warm climate than in a cold climate. Most CO2 in our atmophere comes from Volcanos and Gas coming through the cracks in the Earth's crust. 0.038% or 0.00038 was 0.00036 before man got here. That doesn't really mean that this is bad. We are only a tiny part of this earth. A Volcano or a Earthquake or a solar flare from the Sun would have a greater effect. on the temp. No matter what we do.

I live a thousand feet above sea level, So bring on the worst predictions. I plan on being alive in 2050. That is only 41 years away. I know a lot more about CO2 than Al Gore does. It is part of my job! Did you know that CO2 is stored in liquid and converted to HCO3 which turn acid to alkaline. Why you don't want to trust NASA is they work for the government. If they are paid to find something and they want to keep there job they are going to find what they where told to find.

I won't be around and neither will you but little by little we are destroying the planet. It's a lot more than Polar Ice caps. Higher CO2 has a lot of effect on farming as well. Neither you or I know what we don't know but I would tend to side with NASA.
