i just watched the entire movie on dvd. the accolades are well deserved. truly extraordinary movie. can someone give me the name of the pianist who is really playing clair de lune solo. i have checked several movie sites and have come up with zilch. thank you for your assistance.
The father's expression from 3:25 moves me every time I see it. The entire film pivots on such a minor but deep conveyance of emotion. A true masterpiece of filmaking in Japanese style.

Now, I'm not a big baby or anything. The last time I cried was at my brother's funeral years ago. But this scene actually made me choke up

@BeHazey:
Couldn't agree more. This is probably one of the best and most emotional endings I have ever seen.

Amazing how music, the art form which is only able to operate within time, can seem to stop time completely...
Its effect continues after this clip as well, when the boy and his parents walk out of the room whilst the audience look on, in absolute silence.

I can't remember the last time I saw such a beautifully crafted and heartbreaking film.
