LaRon - Kidney Transplant Story

After 4½ years on dialysis, LaRon received the call he had been waiting for. Dr. Jaffers, his surgeon, called him personally to ask if he wanted it.

Now, LaRon has dedicated his life to taking care of the precious gift he has received. He promised he would do everything he had to do to keep his new kidney functioning. He doesn't want to let anyone down especially himself.

Thanks for reaching out to share your wonderful story, LaRon. After several years on peritoneal dialysis, wondering from moment to moment where my life was heading, my kidney function gradually improved so that dialysis was no longer needed and thankfully, no transplant either. As you clearly explained, taking our meds as prescribed, watching our diet, good sleep and regular exercise are all important for folks like you and me to maintain healthy kidney function.
