Muslim women face many challenges in western society, especially in wearing the veil. Wearing veil (Hijab) and covering of body of muslim woman is a symbol of modesty and purity.It doesn't mean we are ignorant, oppressed or not liberated. You don't have to exposed or show your whole entire body just to be recognized or be liberated as a woman. You don't have to wear bikini and bra in public to show the world you are intelligent. Being liberated & intelligent is based the way you think, talk & interact w/ other people not the way you dressed, virgin mary dressed like muslim today.

To be honest, I'm against the veil in Islam. The Hijab IS a symbol of opression.

However, France is wrong to ban the veil. If women really want to wear the burka, then they should do so in their own homes. In public, I prefer to see someones face clearly, not covered up.

Also, Muslim men should at least give women some degree of independance. How would you men feel if you had to be covered completely from head to toe? Not being allowed to interact with strangers?
