  • Who were the fiddle and bass player in this particular tune?

  • Two young men taken from us much too early. Keith McReynolds on bass, and Jimmy Campbell on fiddle.

  • Dad, you always put a smile on our face. We will miss you at Christmas this year but have some film and recordings that will bring us some comfort.

To all the Bluegrass fans - thank you for your love and support of Dad. He is smiling from heaven!

Drew Shelton Porter (Allen's oldest daughter)

  • Allen doesn't get near the respect in the bluegrass circle he deserves. Great picker!

  • I was so very lucky and honored to share the stage with all of these men several years ago on a number of occasions and it breaks my heart that Allen is gone. He has always been my absolute hero on the banjo. And so ... Jesse McReynolds stands alone as the sole survivor of this group. Jim- cancer, Jimmy- accident, Keith- MS, and Allen- ? ... love you guys - allot ! there must be one awesome jam session going on up there right now.

  • Your dad definitely was a great banjo player, this version of Bending the Strings is just as good as the one he had on the various artists albums "20 Bluegrass Originals Instrumentals" and "30 Bluegrass Hits". RIP.

  • Three of them are gone now that Allen's dead.

  • RIP Allen Shelton

  • RIP Allen, thanks for the music banjo man.

  • Sad to hear allen passed away on Nov 21st. He will be missed

  • Allan really sounded great here. J&J were fortunate having him around. Does anyone know long he played with J&J ?
