I have the same camera. Did you get it to do the shutter automatically and if so how or did you do that manually?

@seajhay Canon does not make a remote release for the 350D, so I used to control the camera via a script that called gphoto2 (an open source camera controlling program). However, sometime since, the consumer electronics market has brought us a remote release w/ timer that works with the 350D. I believe one company is making the guts & a number of "manufacturers" resell the same thing at various prices. Look on amazon for "timer remote release 350D".

Hi. I am going to embed your video on my neighborhood news site,The Eastsider. I wanted to find out what time period you photographed? Also, can you say what intersection you live near? I plan to publish your responses in the post.

@TheEastsiderLA - from 7pm to midnight (though I started shooting at 5). The closest recognizable intersection is Ave 52 & Irvington. My turn ons are long walks down the beach, motivational speeches, and puppies. I could really use a new lens, so if posting this on your news site brings fame and fortune, please let that fame arrive on a pillow next to fresh grapes, palm fronds, and a Canon 'L.' ;-)

What camera and settings did you use and interval? This is pretty cool
h3kno 8 months ago
@h3kno Thanks. It was a canon 350D (Digital Rebel XT) with the [crummy] out-of-the-box 18-55mm lens. Setting was aperture dependent w/ f-stop at around 6 @ 200 ISO. I started with 8 second intervals when it was daylight, but when the exposures got to be longer than ~5 seconds, I moved it to 3 second intervals so it would fire more quickly when the shutter closed.
