I'm conducting a little experiment on this one. Its been suggested that I could improve my videos by using vocal narration instead of text. I'm in two minds about it because it kind of detracts from the pretty-to-look-at/pretty-to-listen-to thing. On the upside, though, it means that it takes a lot less concentration to watch and also gives me the opportunity to get my points across better because I don't have to limit my prose to short chunks of text. Anyway, I'm not in the best position to judge which works best, so in the interest of objectivity, do let me know which format you would prefer for future videos.

Thanks for watching!

Oh yes, almost forgot. This is a response to Other4815s video, Atheism and Evolution, where he is kind enough to explain to atheists why they believe in evolution and describe why Christians cannot. I should point out that my response is from my own philosophical position which is pretty much agnostic atheism. I don't presume to speak for anyone else, but since that's the only position I have, I'm stuck with having to argue from it.

Other4815s original video is at:

Music: Antonio Vivaldi, Concerto for bassoon, strings, and continuo in A minor (RV 500).

  • I think when a religious person tells me i "believe" in evolution, they actually mean if i have faith, and i dont have faith in evolution, in my opinion, faith and belief arent the same, you can believe something, but not have faith in it because i think faith has more of a religious connotation, where as belief has a more.. idk.. statistical connotation. I say this because it still is kinda arrogant to say someone "knows" evolution is 100% true, so u have to say u believe it to be true.

  • @chrism4n14 That is why I do my best to remember to use the phrase "I accept" rather than "I believe in" when talking about evolution specifically and scientific theories in general.

  • TheLivingDinosaur,

Thank you very much for giving me the name of the Mozart work featured in HH1 ( Koechel 7 ).

Biology is not my specialty ( my degrees are in physics) but I do wish to offer a small insight you might want to consider in future videos. When creationists claim Christianity and evolution are incompatible, please mention Dr. Robert T. Bakker, an eminent paleontologist , is also an ordained Pentecostal minister.

Of course, he's not a bible literalist like these fuckards.

  • @LoopQuantumGravity1 NP. As for Robert Bakker, I am aware of him. As it happens I was watching a show on dinosaur extinction with my kids a few nights ago that featured him! You're right though, I should perhaps use him as an example.

  • Ah, this is the vid where you start talking for a change... Cool.

  • Well there are creationist atheists. Buddhism is technically atheistic, and they have a sort of creation myth... granted it's life as a cycle, but still. Not to mention, you have the Raëlians who believe that the Earth was created by aliens. So, yes there are atheists who believe in some form of creation myth... that doesn't mean that they are any more correct than theists who believe in a creation myth... it just means they're idiots who happen not to believe in any gods.

  • @velourea That was kind of a poor explanation on what I believe the word belief means... but hey, you can only get so much information across in 500 characters...

  • @velourea Words can have many meanings, to me, belief is having a feeling that something is a certain way, not necessarily true (meaning belief in something =/= knowledge, example, when I was young i believed there was a creeper in my closet, but now i know it isnt true) Believing basically means you have a feeling. If someone asks you for the time, but aren't quite 100% sure on it, you'd say either you didnt know or "I believe around 4PM" saying believe means you don't know for sure

  • @chrism4n14 what the hell is believing anyway, standing up for something?

  • Allegory: a euphemism for fairy tales (e.g. the bible)

  • ... seeing a trend here .... Almost all of the videos that you ( TLD ) have responded to, have been "removed by the user. I guess they realized their foolishness in trying to replace reality with ignorance. Thank you for your service to the rest of humanity !

  • @eagleeye1975, won't get any PM that you send (check your sent folder), as I returned your block and blocked you in kind, as per my channel page policy.

If you're being honest about ditching your past catering to specific views for a libertarian open free speech forum, and have really unblocked the many 100s of people you've blocked before, then make a video stating that and show your block list. Nothing wrong with a change of heart, anyone would respect such actions.
