Managing a Fixed Income ETF

Of all the challenges that an ETF portfolio manager faces, successfully tracking a fund's benchmark index can be one of the most difficult -- and most important. Add to this the fact that many fixed income indexes hold thousands of securities, the majority of which are unavailable for trading. What's a PM to do? We posed this question to Matt Tucker, BlackRock's Head of Fixed Income Portfolio Management, because he encounters this situation every day when managing some of the iShares fixed income ETFs.
