Mackenzie: Your former scout leader would be proud.

Billy: Mac, I didn't have to kill him.
Mackenzie: You didn't mean to.
Billy: Yeah. How much good is that gonna do me in front of a judge?
Mackenzie: Billy, what could you do? Let Ralph do what he wanted to me?
Billy: No, Mac, of course not. Look, even if I get out of this somehow, all right, even if the bastard did deserve to die.
Mackenzie: He did.
Billy: Mac, that is not our choice to make. Not in the eyes of the law. I mean, God, it's like -- I mean, no matter how this turns out my life has changed. I never thought about that before it's -- you know, what's the course of my life? I mean, yeah, yeah, it's high school, and then college, then, you know, whatever. But, Mac, I could go to jail.
Mackenzie: Don't do this to yourself.
Billy: I just couldn't stand seeing his hands on you.

Billy: Look, Mac -- hey, I'm in trouble, but you're not. Okay?
Mackenzie: Billy, I'm staying here with you.
Billy: Hey, listen to me, all right? You gotta lead your life. I can't mess things up for you anymore. Which is why I've got to turn myself in. I gotta face whatever is coming to me. And I can't bring you in any deeper
Billy: Great, batteries are totally shot. Now we don't know what's going on.
Mackenzie: Billy, listen, there's something I -- what you were saying before about not wanting to drag me in it any deeper -- I just -- I don't want you to feel like I'm pressuring you to go back or to turn yourself in.
Billy: I know that Mac, but I --
Mackenzie: Please -- let me say this. Except for my dad and grandma, no one in the world matters more to me than you do. I would do just about anything for you. Especially -- especially after the way you saved me. Like if you decide not to go to the police -- to leave town instead, I'll go with you.
Billy: I can't let you do that.
Mackenzie: I know what you're going to tell me, all right? And I also know that it won't be easy. But if you think that I'm gonna let you go off someplace and never see or hear from you again -- I couldn't bear that, Billy. I couldn't bear it.
Billy: Hey -- sweetie, listen to me, all right? We can't go on the run, okay? This would destroy your life. And I can't let that happen. I won't let that happen.
Mackenzie: Billy, come on. I've been on the road before. I made it okay. Plus, with you by my side, I'll be more than okay.
Billy: Mac, your whole life is here, all right? Your grandma and your mom.
Mackenzie: You are a part of my life, too. A very big part.
Billy: That means so much to me.
Mackenzie: But?
Billy: But hearing you talk about it like it's an option -- it just makes me realize that there isn't an option at all.
Mackenzie: Billy --
Billy: No, Mac, look, all right? We can't run away from this. All right, we shouldn't. I've got to turn myself in. I have to face the consequences, whatever they may be
Billy: Hey. I know what you're thinking. You're wondering if I'm sure about turning myself in.
Mackenzie: You could still change your mind.
Billy: No, I can't, Mac. All right? For both of our sakes.
Mackenzie: I love you, Billy.
