Actually, I wonder a few things. 1. If he is in the US more than 30 days is the default to reinstate his citizenship? 2. If he renounced his citizenship, why does he then wonder why he is only allowed 30 days "in his own country?" (the act of renouncing should mean you don't claim it as yours any more.) and 3. While he did mention Bush, and was ostensibly renouncing the US for that, he even says "the fact is..." he is paying taxes to a nation in which he does not live. Not a dodge. Just a fact.

@regco1 what video were you watching? The primary reason was that he would leave his wife without a home from US taxes when he dies.

30 days a year? Are you kidding me!?

@greggh he didn't renounce it as a tax dodge, he clearly states that it was because of Bush and his political policies. He states the tax reasons as an aside.

What an idealistic guy. He renounces his US citizenship as a tax dodge.
@rich107s Gilliam was part of the most influential and creative comedy troupes in the history of civilization. Furthermore, he wrote and directed some of the most outstanding and influential films of the post modern era. Yeah, real failure. You're equating his supposed lack of intelligence with your disagreement with his political opinions. Folks like you are what's wrong with the US. You wear your patriotism on your sleeve, yet you're willing to drive your own people in poverty. Utterly sad.
