  • Dave your a star. Thanks for these happy memories of radio london. Fantastic!

  • Might wellbe London origin, but ther's also some Odham in that accent which he's trying to hide.

He missed the main one - the "BIG, ELLL" in that echoed bass voice.

I wonder how he got hold of these jingles? Many of them were later edited down and sold (along with others from other late 60's early 70's radio stations) in customisable packages from such as Roger Squire's Disco retail shop in Manchester.

(From an ex Free Radio Association Member).

  • if you want a good site to visit Norman Barrington, jingles guy/DJ for Radio caroline has his own site. its normanb.net nice guy to chat with as well, AS a kid I love Radio Caroline North

  • There is a good reason why the jingles would sound familiar to U.S. radio listeners in the 1960s. The station was owned by the same people who owned stations such as KLIF in Dallas and .. has been mentioned .. PAMS.

  • wow takes me back to when i were a lad

  • I too, was introduced to these wonderful radio jingles via "The Who Sell Out" album. These sound like they were produced by PAMS in Texas. Some are similar to jingles aired by 77 WABC in New York City. Thanks Dave!

  • Listening to "The Who Sell Out" in the 1960s, I was surprised to hear that they used these American-style jingles in a foreign country - especially because one of the stations in Honolulu, Hawaii (where I lived) used the same "Wonderful..." songs, except for their station's call letters: "Wonderful KGMB".

  • Great vid of fond memories Dave - I remember the pirate radio years from my childhood when my bruv would listen to radio Luxembourg late at night with it's shifting-phase sound caused by atmospherics.

I remember that on cloudy evenings radio reception was excellent.

My fave was radio London. I still remember all the jingles.

I'm from Radlett too - but I can't say who I am as I'm a political activist and would be targetted.

    Keep the memories alive Dave.

  • would nt it be nice if todays stations incorparated some old jingles from our days, just for the fun of it.

  • HEY DAVE you legend you

    love moggy x

  • well done dave
