QoS differentiation boosts quality of experience on 3G and LTE
End-to-end quality of service (QoS) differentiation keeps network traffic flowing smoothly at busy times by allocating different priorities to traffic from different users and applications. The solution operates in heavily loaded networks when requests to use the network exceed the available capacity. It prioritizes data traffic according to subscription agreements to divide resources fairly.
Different priorities can be allocated dynamically to different user segments or applications depending on the network load. The Nokia Siemens Networks smart QoS-aware scheduler allows QoS priorities to be changed even during a data session and can maintain a particular bit rate regardless of other simultaneous upload and download sessions. It simultaneously schedules different bitrates and measures the load every millisecond.

  • So basically you are saying that people with money will be offered to pay for having all the net for themselves, kicking out normal people.

  • QoS differentiation is one way to answer to the need to offer more personalized services and more choices to customers. It also helps CSPs (operators) to minimize the effect of network congestion, thus improving user experience by optimizing and putting network resources into more efficient use.

  • There are plenty of ways to enable QoS i a network (DiffServ with Drop-tail to mane just one). What i'm saying is that this video doesn't talk anything about queue management friendly to delay-intolerant traffic.

Instead, the only thing the add is defending is "those who pay more will get priority".

Well... that's awkward. I have been working on network technologies for years and now I'm feeling like all my work is being used only as a decoy to raise the prices.
