Well, being usable away from an outlet or TV is kind of the point of a portable in the first place. @VikutaaChyaaruzu

Still though, they last 5 hours, which is longer than all but two of the road trips I have ever been on in my life. And that is WITHOUT taking into account the option of bringing spare batteries.

You're right.

Sega would later add two power-extending accessories to the Game Gear: the Battery Pack and the Power Battery. The Battery Pack allowed a couple extra AA batteries into the system. The Power Battery was a large rechargeable battery that actually attached to the back of the Game Gear, further extending the system's life away from the wall wart.
