Hello. On behalf of my wife Mary Jo and the entire American Embassy community, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and a happy, healthy and peaceful new year. The holidays are a time of joy. It is a season for gathering with family and friends for parties, feasts and gift-giving. Many of us will go to our churches or cathedrals to mark one of the holiest days in the Christian year, and our Jewish friends are celebrating Hanukkah.
For all of us, regardless of our religion or traditions, the New Year holiday is an important time of reflection. It gives each one of us a chance to look back on the last twelve months and consider the things we have achieved, as well as those things we failed to do, or could have done better.
But even while we look back at 2011, we also have the opportunity to plan for the coming year and to consider our goals and dreams. Some of us will come up with New Year's resolutions to be kinder to others, perhaps to lose weight, or to save more money. Regardless of whether you make resolutions or not, the coming of a new year is a wonderful time because it offers hope for what might be possible. It is a chance to imagine what might come, what we might accomplish, and what successes we might achieve.
So I would like to extend my warmest best wishes for the holiday season to each one of you. May you enjoy the support and love of family and friends in the coming weeks, and may 2012 bring success and peace to all of us.
Happy Holidays, Srekni Praznitzi, and Gezuar Festat!
God bless you Mr. Ambassador Wohlers!!!
