  • I'm ok with calling birdsong "music" so long as we also call nests "architecture."

  • i had a parrot once and although he was a terrible singer he CLEARLY squeaked WITH ME whenever I played the guitar or started singing. it was absolutely clear that he LIKED it. i think the truth is in the middle of what David Rothenberg claims and the scientists :)

  • @Irene00007 I just put the piece up on Soundcloud, youtube doesn't let links be posted in these comments, but this should work: soundcloud(dot)com(slash)terranova(slash)the-twitch

  • Actually, the scientists and I agreed much more than the film reveals. No surprise... hey, it's TV.

  • I think I come down on the side of the scientists. Until this guy has actual, empirical evidence, what he's saying is just poetry.

  • I'm guessing that some scientists would claim that the bit in My Life As A Turkey where there is inter-species partaking of what could be called play, where one of the turkeys plays around with a squirrel, that couldn't possibly happen.

But it did and watching it happen blew my mind a bit :)

  • the scientists are sceptical, which is good, they should be,

but some people like to think that science is set in stone, but it isn't..

science is the continous debunking of previously accepted notions of what is the 'truth', and the 'truth' gets reguraly upturned and disprooved, often to initial scorn by the mainstream scientific community

sceptisism is good, but so is having an open mind

and I don't think that we have as big of a monopoly complex emotions or imagination as we think ;)

  • I want to hear the song in the end and it's no longer available... :-(
