"This is a very, very important film. It ranks, along with ONE DAY IN SEPTEMBER as an actual, undeniable presentation of the unmitigated horror of terrorism. Terrorism is the directed, purposeful taking of innocent life for supposedly political purposes. Innocent life is innocent life, at the World Trade Center or in Tel Aviv its extinction is an act of bestiality. To which fact this film bluntly and incontestably testifies". -- David Mamet

BLUES BY THE BEACH

Fate brings filmmakers together in Israel in April of 2003. They begin a documentary about a live music blues bar by the beach in Tel Aviv called Mike's Place. The aim is to show there is more to the MIddle East than seemingly endless war and terrorism. Filming people having a good time stops abruptly when harsh reality hits Mike's Place and changes the course of their film.

  • I just ordered this DVD from amazon.com Looking forward to watching it!

  • Mike's place will keeps on playing blues and rockenroll. I wish so would all of us, here, in the middle east to see peaceful times.

  • My female Rabbi used to work there and led me to this clip on You Tube. I must hunt this down in the UK and watch it.

    Best, Natalija

  • Thank you for compliting this movie!!! To my opinion, this movie is a big step towards peace.. It wasn't done, by neither one of the sides... and most important it shows how we can all live, drink & have fun together... it's a matter of choice... and I choose peace!!!

Thank you Jack, if there were only more people like you... or actually even one more Jack Baxter
