Glenn T. Seaborg Serving Ten Presidents on the Atomic Energy Commission. One of the last topics of his informal talks. Glenn Is the only person to have an element named after them while they were alive (in 1997 #106 named Seaborgium" they even waited till Einstein died to name the element Einsteinium # 99 ) He is a hero when JFK asked him to come to Washington in the middle of winter with his family from Cal and he took a family vote and overruled them (it was 7 to one!) That;s a hero! He's discovered ten elements and countless isotopes used in medicine (including the plutonium used in one of the atomic bombs and that;s all people know of him but there is much much more! He became Chancellor of Cal Berkeley or else would've had more elements to his credit. A great all around guy! He gave credit to his lab teacher at Jordan High School in South Gate (Watts) I gave a lecture there after he died in 1999 the kdis were nice!
