You wrote "Trying to put 'A' definition to a set". I said try to add more definition to what your doing within the set.
I spoke of dynamics in both the musical form and non-musical. What i reffered to means least of all 'patterns' and 'gradation'. And is not reffering to simply chopping and changing constantly.
-
i know exactly what i'm talking about, it's you who doesn't understand what you're saying.
"there's no dynamics to the set"
dynamics means pattern, gradation and variation of music and that set has variances and layers in spades.
stop telling people what to do. i'm sick of self important dj's trying to critique other people's shit and make what others' do seem like lesser accomplishments.
to be honest i'd like to hear what YOU can do.
put your near 20 years against my almost 5.

i did, and.. "i could actively beatmatch and do seamless mixes". of course the mixing wouldn't be great, but that's something that just takes a little time to get a handle on it. spinning records is easy i haven't trainwrecked any genre i've tried in years and i pick up the tables once or twice a month maximum.
and when i say "any genre" i literally mean every practical genre that can be mashed with turntables.

You found breakbeats easier to mix than 4 to the floor beats ? Good for you.
I wonder how great they sounded in 'your first week of mixing'.
"trying to put a definition to a set is just stupid"
You misunderstood. What im talking about is the complete opposite of 'boring'.
Definition and dynamics, that is what music is about or it would be boring.
When you dj you have freedom of expression whether you like it or not.
Please think about what you are saying.
-
i disagree, drum and bass i found exceedingly easy to spin. probably the easiest for me at least.
everything depends on whether or not you have a musical background.
that's just how it is, period.
i know this because i could actively beatmatch and do seamless mixes in my first week of mixing.
i don't even listen to dnb, i spin techno ffs.
also, trying to put a definition to a set is just stupid, it's freedom of expression not an equation.
i bet your sets are boring as hell.

dude i got the song at 1:07 but i just wanna know the name cos its just names dj hype & j majik?
can you please tell me the track name please ...
chers mate.

I like how, instead of a mix, it's like an ever-changing mosaic of music. Neat.

gr8 guys
So i've got full support for you guys. Drum and Bass is the hardest thing to beatmatch well and fast.
PLus im from East London and have been part of the scene from '92 to '98, so im always happy to hear it going strong.
Just some things to think about in your sets.

I hear ya man .... and thanks for the support ... i appreciate that from an "original junglist " 92-98 ... you witnessed some amazing stuff then my friend ... I got into it around 96 ...
anyways ... not sure if you read any of my posts below but yeah it isn't a flawless mix ...it was actually not meant for the competition and wasn't rehearsed.. we also were loaded and hadn't slept yet lol .. we saw no one else was entering a DNB vid so we entered this not expecting anything and we one ..

As i write this im hearing clanging snares and about 3 tracks being played at once, which might seem wonderful to bedroom Dj's but musically and sonically it sounds like mud.
Plus theres no dynamics to the set. Its just a constant mixm with no breakdowns or build ups and ..oops another clang..
Im not trying to be disrespectful, just maybe trying to point some younger Dj's in the right direction, since i've got 16 years of experience. By the way i started out in Hardcore/Drum&Bass in 1992 !

and I agree clashing snares to me is the worst sound ever.... me (the guy farthest away) had little to no monitoring and we i couldn't hear what SEEK was playing in my headphones as we were using 2 mixers and didn't hook them up the best way ... this month we''l re-do one and make it to the best of our abilities .... And Donjuan does make a good point and I second it .. cause learning how to dj doesn't need to take very long ... and things not to do are key to pointing out ... big ups donjuan
