This classic was the only hit by Rebbie Jackson and if you listen closely, features the late Michael Jackson on backing vocals

  • y'all sound stupid saying that's Martha Welsh singing

  • centiPEDE!

  • i dont care what no one says, i always thought she had such a better voice out of all the sisters and she was the prettiest

  • @TheLanard Just watched it. Loved her barefoot dancing, but the backing band and her vocals were a sour note for me.

  • @JumpStreet1983 Type in "Rebbie Jackson.flv".

  • @TheLanard The only live performance I've seen of her singing "Centipede" without the album instrumental is when she's performing at the Blue Note in Osaka, Japan in 1998.

  • @JumpStreet1983 I just saw a clip of her singing it, present day. She wasn't very good, and the video stopped halfway through. It was with a band somewhere. I'm sure she didn't even try to ad-lib like Martha, since she could barely sing her own verses. But you're so right about her management. Michael wrote and produced that song, and I'm sure he hired Martha to sing. He did the same for Diana Ross. Martha sang background for "Muscles". Remember "Brownstone"? He loved those big singers.

  • @TheLanard That's probably why her management never allowed her to sing "Centipede" live (just the backing instrumental, no vocals): they knew she could never imitate and growl like Martha, not even on a good day. That's also why every Youtube performance video of this song has Rebbie lip-syncing to Martha's part. LOL

  • @JumpStreet1983 I'm so glad someone else can tell that's Martha Wash. I had so much trouble convincing people it's her.

  • It's hilarious that they threw Martha Wash in this song @ 4:48 and tried to pass her off as Rebbie. Granted, the part from 4:58-5:00 does sound a little like her, but the difference in their voices is instantly picked up by those with a good ear.
