@archbishop999 or Houston!!!

to the person asking if this song was about incest - yes, that's what the whole song is about....Willie is the father of his sister's child - back in those days people were farmers and lived in remote areas....my interpretation is they probably had their first sexual experience together because there was no other people around them for miles away and she ends up getting pregnant and instead of telling the village and the family who the father is he takes her out in the woods and shoots her

So this tune and song were written by Todd? I discovered it through a cover and assumed it was a traditional arrangement. Nice.
-
I finished War for the Oaks and was surprised to see Boiled in Lead is a real band.
-
anyone got lyrics?

@timesnewroman Discovered them on the same sampler - apart from he track on it, 'Orb' came free with it ... sellotaped together as I remember. Played it to an American friend who then came back from a vist to the states with their first album and From the Ladle to the Grave on cassette.
I emailed them once about you UK gigs and got a very friendly one back apologing for not having any plans this side of the pond.

"Son, Oh Son" is Todd Merton's take on the traditional incest theme of a brother impregnating, then murdering, his sister. Instead of the mother helping her son escape, as in many versions, she promises the son that he will be killed for his actions.
-
Um, it's a traditional-STYLE song - Todd wrote it.

Congrats on this interesting video, however I wonder what Boiled In Lead - Son O Son (live) has to do with incest (as I found your link over at incestcurious . com just today)

It's a traditional song about incest and murder. From the first verse -- "Willie's the father of his sister's child." Things go downhill from there.
