Dear Mike, So Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I can only relate my experience yours may be (at least a little) different. The sore throat and muscle aches are a reaction to the muscle relaxant, they typically disappear after the third or fourth treatment. My mood change was not sudden and dramatic. I gradually found myself enjoying the things I used to enjoy - reading, movies, talking with friends, etc. I wish you well.

Hey Dale, Tomorrow will be my second of ECT's
, the first one was yesterday and all it has done so far is give me a terrible sore throat, and muscle aches. How do you know when the depression leaves? Do you experience a euphoria or what? Thanks, Mike

I had ECT's for a 6 week regimine. It's been 3 yrs now since my last ECT and today I'm left with memory loss and stupidity-(the only word I can come up with now.) I hope that the ECT's will have a positive long lasting effect on your well being.

ECT has been very positive for me. My last ECT was in 2007. I am so sorry that you are experiencing long term difficulties. I hope that things get better for you.

Could you please tell me what they gave you for the headaches? I actually still have the headaches well after treatment. I'm inclined to think it was the ECT, although it could just be a coincidence.

I took Advil/ibuprofen for the headaches. I never needed anything stronger. I did not have any headaches after the first few treatments. Sorry to hear you are having difficulties still. Hope you find relief soon!
