Return of the blackbirds. Usually a sign of spring the blackbirds returned just in time for the biggest snowfall of the year. An unusually large population this year....especially of the red winged blackbird. I'm thinking the blackbird with the more colorful wings is a juvenile blackbird. I think the little light brown birds are female cowbirds?... Music during end montage song called 'Hazelwood' by Onlymeith

  • This video is totally awesome. Made my Night to watch it. - Phil

  • Thank you Phil:) I'm glad you enjoyed! I'm still working on capturing the magnitude of this blackbird flock...hopefully they will stay at least one more day:)

  • Nice movie. Love the ending.

I have two blackbirds here that I call Frick and Frack, lol.

They never leave, been here all winter. I guess they lurv me and keep an eye out for me and I lurv them too.

About a month ago several 1000 robins came through, whew what a mess,...that was ; ))

  • Thank you hermitwalker! I guess most blackbirds go south for the winter but there are always those special, unique, few (like Frick and Frack, LOL), who decide to stay...perhaps because they are lazy or just damn good friends:D

Oh if you just had 1000 raisins you'd have 1000 new friends:)) Do you know what type of blackbird Frick and Frack are?...

  • Nice bird, wonderful spring time....

  • Thanks:) Yes looks like we are having a white spring:))

  • I have never seen this one before! This is so funny. I love how you can hear Blue Jay in the background doing his squeaky-gate calls. I love Read-Winged Blackbirds, and I see Cowbirds in there too, but the Grackles, they come & scare away all my nice birds, like Cardinals & Fox Sparrows & Mourning Doves. They are frightening!

  • I seen em stick around in Dec too.

    Sure!

  • Thank you Anne:) There is a saying in these parts-'April showers bring May flowers...' March usually comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb! Bahhhh:D This should be the last snow!!!!!But you never know!!

  • Awesome footage! I love birds. I'm confused with the snow. When is the actual spring month for you? Spring --in the sense of lots of rains and no more snow :D
