  • Guys stfu.

First the Persians powned the Greeks. See the battle of Thymbra where 60000 persians defeated 150 000 greeks.

Later the Greeks powned the Persians. See the battle of Gaugamela where 60000 greeks defeated 240 000 persians.

    Soooo, both empires are awesome.

  • If Persians were weak, then how could they manage the 2/3 of the known world?

Persians were good, but Greeks were better.

Kiss my ass. Persians were in a seez fire with greeks. Greeks send application about getting help by persians, cus they had power. They lured them all, actually betrailed...

  • @theworldisfucked1 The persians could not have, and had no reason to, take more than 100 thousand on a punitive expedition against Athens. At thermopylae there was a pass, 14 meters wide, that allowed about 20 men to form the front line. In such a case, the greeks' longer spears gave them a clear advantage by allowing more troops to engage, but they still managed to lose.

  • @migkillerphantom the greeks also wrote down propaganda, they wrote how the persian army numbered int he millions for example when there was probably around 300000 at thermopylae. Immortals were at marathon along with 25000 infantry cavalry. And as i said a hoplite would have stood no chance against an immortal, unless in formation, at thermopylae there were thousands of more poorly equipped greeks from thebes etc, yet they held outalongsidethe spartans

  • @theworldisfucked1 Besides, I know they wrote stuff down, but more in a propoganda way, stating the achievements of the kings - intended to impress. Not like Herodotus and other greeks - they wrote to pread the word to the next generations.

  • @theworldisfucked1 AN ARMOURED hoplite. You should know that armour was extremely expensive, and most hoplites only carried linen corselets at best - the same as persians. Most hoplites never received any form of training, and a shieldwall by the immortals could defeat them pretty easily, as would more skilled. At marathon there was not a single companion (known to you as "immortals") present, and chokepoints always favour the defender - it was the hoplite's longer spears that mattered there.
