Well I feels as though I saved the best for last in reviewing my "High End" small fixed blade. My Fallkniven Idun has become a favorite of mine. I have done it all with this little blade, and it is a great blade. The down side is you are going to pay for it, but if you can find a good deal pick it up!

  • Hi guys!

I wonder if you can help me here... I am looking for a knife just like the NL5 to start my bushcrafting, but are ther any other choices? F1??? Is there any equivelent in Extrema Ratio? Cheers

  • @LuisCorrula , just did a test in a f1 and it did great.

  • Thanks for your comment! When i saw the NL5 it was love at first site. Did you feel the last part of the handle a bit slicky?

Have you ever tested a small Extrema Ratio survival knife?

  • @LuisCorrula , my idun was great, no issues. I have not tried the extrema. Ratio blades yet. I have had a few requests.

  • When I bought it, Fallkniven had to sen me another sheath because the sheath was already cut through by the blade... my 2nd sheath is being eaten pretty quickly. As already said on another comment, you can get a cricket sheath for about 79$ fpr this one at JREindustries.

    CH-eers!

  • @PinewoodCH , Yeah I just ripped the snap off of mine. Got to get a new sheath soon, I hope Hedgehog Leatherworks brings back there design.

  • im looking for a good fixed blade survival knife and was wondering what you would suggest?

  • @LuisCorrula Bark River Aurora

  • Konečně ho mám!!! :)))

  • Is it full tang?

  • Hi... I love your video's and saw this one and have a question. The whickness... inside the handle is...thin, as I now saw on one of virtuovice (another knife-buff) video's where he put it through an x-ray. Do you know this and still feel that it is a very good (survival-type) knife or that for sudge tasks one should go for the the F1, who has is really full tang??? Looking forward to your answer with kind regards from Peter in Amsterdam (Holland)
  • I Norway, Idun is the name of the most famous Tomato Sauce and Mustard.

Good knives are made by companies that you have never heard of.

Helle, Brusletto, J.Adams and the list goes on....

  • @andris4 Actually, it's pronounced "felk-neevin".

  • My Idun is an absolutely wonderful camping knife, but must concur with virtuovoice when he demonstrates in his deer skinning video that for such a task, due to it's oval shape and smoothness, it tends to slide around in your hand when slick/wet/bloody. Beautiful blade shape and overall balance, though.

  • @1013637 No, it's pronounced Fell-kniven...

  • I LOVE my Idun. It's much sharper than my F1 for some reason, and I've REALLY tried to get my F1 sharp with all kinds of compounds and stropping. As you've pointed out, the sheath sucks BIGtime. Other than that, it's a superb knife. My A1 is my other alternative. A small and a big are the best ways to go. I would LOVE to have Hedgehog make me a custom, but only if it's affordable.
