I was privileged to be one of two guys in my Mekong Delta outfit to see Hope's show at Bayonet Bowl, in 1971. He was hilarious. The part of the show that wasn't shown to the folks back home was spot on about the food, the enemy, and the pot smoking. Martha Rae made one of her last appearances there. Not only was it memorable, it provided another connection to my late father who fought in the Pacific in WWII and who went on to fight in Korea.

I had the honor to tour VN in 72 for the USO, my final day met Gen. Fred Weyand who
I reconnected with years later in Hawaii. That tour began my life in Asia and I'm still here.
I went on to work with major music acts over the years but my proudest memories are of sitting on hospital beds of wounded soldiers, doing shows all over VN from Phu Bai to Quang Tri,
Da Nang, to Vung Tau and many more. Thank you Mr. Hope for sending me and thanks to
all the men and women for serving. cliff in tokyo

I was fortunate to attend the Bob Hope Christmas show at Korat AF Base in 1969. Bob and his show brought a little bit of America and home to thousands of American service men and women. Thank you Bob for your love and devotion to our troops... I will always be greatful.

When I watch this video, these patriots and the efforts of Bob Hope, then look at the idiots in the "super committee", makes me want to vomit.

You can't be a "true American" anymore, because the left will say singing "holy night" its to 'religious." we can't have religious in our armforce says the liberal american.

@leffeblonde08 What are you talking about? These brave soldiers were involved in a very unpopular war in Vietnam and the country was extremely divided over it. The military was basically treated like crap and even spit on when they returned from their duty overseas. This time was not the good old days. A few years later the last Americans to leave this hell hole were standing on a roof desperately trying to get out as the communists were moving in. Love Bob but am not nostalgic for this time.

Who will replace Bob Hope?
What a wonderful blessing to the ill treated troops that were in Nam. To be recognized and appreciated as they so deserved. Bob Hope was a special man who tickled everybody's funny bone.
