That is Son House in the interview - His voice has that raw, unmistakable tone. I think at that point in his life Son was in his mid 60s, so perhaps he sounds older than he did in his younger years.

@jamianm its sorta hard to explain but more towards the middle of the river

Where's that pocket located?

I haven't been able to find the audio of that Son House interview, but I don't think that is him speaking. Can anyone else agree? Strange because it sounds like an old recording, but that just doesn't sound like Son.

I grew up there and never knew about it until I was doing genealogy research of the surrounding area. I was blown away because it is a very white area, I was 19 before I ever saw a black person there getting gas at the old Clark station. It's a shame how most were destroyed. It's nice to see that its now getting remembered again.

PBS again brings us some of the best on TV today. I just learned of the history of Paramount Records and I have been living in this area all my life! I'm going to the 2nd anual Paramount blues festival next weekend! Long live the Blues!
Thanks for posting!

I love this series
Amazing how a "mother" pressing survived and even more amazing is the story of the Paramount records and it's demise. I love these stories!

i've gone swimming, fishing/wading, in this river almost every day in the summer with my brothers. i watched the scuba divers on this filming day. i hate to say it, but the areas where they were searching, were the wrong spots. The whole river, in this area, is about 3-3 feet deep. There is a "pocket" about nine feet wide, and very, very deep. it is no where near where they are searhing... like i said, hate to say it!
