This movie is a gem.

I think it's the BBC version with Joss Ackland, isn't it? I watched it in the 90's when I had a young child that was sick , so have not watched it properly. But I felt the depth of suffering of both of them, through the acting. The version with Anthony Hopkins comes a very close second.

C.S. Lewis dared to study the depths and make them understandable to less brilliant minds...he had a childlike faith [as in the Narnia books], as well as grasping deeper understanding of Christianity.
