  • @otleybull I think because they often move around and switch dummies while practicing, and people trip and crack their heads.

  • Wonder why non of those jongs have legs!

  • Haha! This guy seemed all calm and then he goes off on a crazy tangent. What a cool guy.

  • nice explanation^^ gonna try this on my next training =P i wonder what my instructor would say if i'm doing this xD

  • not in Wing Chun concept

that might be right in Thai Box and stuff

  • He is on his heels b/c some styles of wing chun teach it that way - short answer.

  • Different branches and different sifus have their preferences.

I find that to do WC right, your weight has to be above the kidney point, located right behind the ball of your foot. Study how Yip Man does the dummy form to see what I'm talking about. To pivot on the heels from that position means you have shift the weight back and causes a momentary loss of balance.

  • How come none of his wooden dummies have legs? There's supposed to be a leg in the middle sticking out for a Wing Chun dummy. There are quite a few kicking techniques against the leg.

  • Some teach toes some teach heels. Heels are harder to master but better once you do. When you pivot on your heels, the core of your body stays in the same place, maintaining your balance. If you get slammed while pivoting on your toes you will be moved. Try it.

  • nigga this guy would rape you in a fight
