@TaliMustang I don't see how that is an answer in changing a child's behavior. Hitting wouldn't solve the issue, it would only create new problems and aggravate the one at hand.

@imabadking Good question. I don't really remember. This was a few years ago. I think we ended up going to swing for just a couple of minutes and then to the dismay of my other son, headed home.

this kid has no respect for his mother...i have three sons who have at some point acted out like this...one good spanking and they never did again. if mommy says get out of the car, they do, like little gentlemen.

@TaliMustang Hm, I'm wondering if I should bother trying to educate you, or leave you to your clueless judging. This behavior is the result of an overactive Anterior Cingulate Gyrus (that's in the brain). When there is too much activity in that part of the brain one has difficulty switching from one thing to the next. What you suggest is like saying if you beat a paralyzed person they will walk. The other thing you imply is that they are just naughty. You have much to learn.

@TaliMustang And FYI, if we could just tell them not to act that way or in your words "beat" it out of them, don't you think we would have done that, instead of giving up vacations, regular food to cook special diets, a life, career, anything they need? We have this behavior 24/7. Do you really think we want to spend thousands of dollars (upwards of $50,000 a year) on therapies, if we could just tell them to stop or beat them once and for all? So clueless.
