in response to why does it always happen: plain and simple. If jackasses like Bin Laden commit attrocities in the name of religion, people tend to take notice of that. Don't just put it on western society for these things. "Seek not wickedness amongst your neighbours lest it finds purchase in your own house". In other words, before telling us what we can not do, first try to make sure we don't have a reason for those things. Even if some are exagerated.
