As an owner of a fire sprinkler company,a member of National Fire Protection Association and a member of the International Building Code Association,I can tell you that you had better start studying your codes about everything relevant to the construction industry before you make too many assumptions.Find your proof to back it up in code before you assume too many things. There are no codes against it as of now.

The only problem here may be the location of the whole catwalk.Sprinkler heads are located by code to be a certain distance off walls for water coverage purposes and if there is a catwalk that has been built there, the sprinkler head must still be there and this is what you get.I do splits all the time installing the pipe in attics haha.Cant feel sorry for ya there.Guess sprinkler work is just more physical.

I agree, the sprinklers have to go where they go, however this installer is a little clueless, look at the hanger location's. the sprinkler pipe is supposed to be under the insulation however, you can fill the system with Glycol, but they just released new test data that said glycol can make a grease fire explode, not quite what were trying to accomplish with fire sprinklers.

Hey hackfreehvac........
I'd like to get some anecdotal evidence of your experience with sprinkler damage in the Phoenix area.
How many houses have you or the techs you work with ended up damaged because of cracked (stepped on) pipes in the attic? I ask because I am a fire safety guy that is actually against sprinkler mandates, and it is always being shoved down our throats citing the glowing example of Scottsdale. Comments?
Well,
The Sprinkler lines can be filled with AntiFreeze. Not Glycol, but Glycerin, which is for plastic systems. You want to know why the sprinklers are where they are? Because we have codes. You can't just put a sprinkler anywhere in a room. We have to be certain distance away from lights, fans, diffusers....We also have to be spaced according to how much water pressure is available. Certain distances off of walls and so on. They have to go where they go. The GC and Architect are at fault. Done

You may have codes for placing your sprinklers in the home but as soon as you placed your pipe on a catwalk that's made for a tech to use in a 150 degree attic on a July afternoon, you just broke them.

You know most plumbers tell the home owner they are not wood-butchers and they (home owner) will have to hire one. That seem to me what you sprinkler head should do also. You may have to add to the bid to the contractor or the home owner. Grow up you are in business. It is your job to do a professional job not a hack job.
From the few pictures that were there, that was terrible routing sprinkler pipes.

My goal of these videos was to show how the homes were set up (hacked) as a whole.
The BUILDER being the actual responsible person. But they don't care.
This is in the HOT Arizona Desert. The last thing a guy crawling through a 140 degree attic should worry about is finding the HIDDEN spirnklers as he's barely able to survive the trip alone to the furnace and back to the scuttle lid before passing out!
