Just be sure to check that with an infant carrier cover as shown in here, that when the seat is placed on the base that it does not interfere with the base properly snapping down. I caught this many times with my own kids. usually under the child's feet area. I just started pulling back on the seat to ensure it was in tight.
GREAT video!! Great idea for making it! I know way too many mommies out there who put their kiddos in snow suits around here and now I know to avoid that with the car seat and my LO this winter! Thanks!
holy crap that is scary. Someone from BBC brought attention to this vid and I thank them. And to you for making this! Thankfully we live in orange county where it never gets too cold. I will be sure to pass this along as well and again thank you!
Great job on the video. As a Car Seat Tech Instructor and manager of a county wide car seat station, we try to get this point across constantly. As one of my fellow instructors like to say "Slack Kills!" Having your child tightly secured in thier car seat EVERY time is so important.
A bonus of using stuff over the straps is that once the car gets warmed by the heater, you can easily take off some of the layers without disturbing the baby.
older babies, toddlers, and children can even do so for themselves. It is why my 7yr old prefers to wear any jacket on backwards over his seatbelt... when he gets all warm, he can bring it down to his lap or hand it to me, but also, if he gets sleepy, it makes him feel all cozy like a blanket.
Dude. I seriously need to send this to someone I know. She has her 3 yr old rear facing in a Britax and she uses the car set correctly, but she always puts a really puffy coat on Sydni ( her daughter) she thinks that if she just tightnes the harness than shes fine! UGGG she never listens to me about that. I will send this to her! :) Thanks for making this video!

I'd never had the chance to do those kind of pics before with my kids as babies, but still had Ruthie for demoing the cheat...
Please... send it to them... I think just seeing the baby and what it looks like with the coat removed says it all.
