The winter arrived, as did the snow!! The first major project was to connect the bridge to link the walkway between the two stations. Secondly we started digging out at the original terminus, this was for the "bay" line and for the construction of the 2 road engine shed.

This was proving to be the most difficult part of the build, as we were working on both ends of the line at the same time. As can be seen the soil is solid clay, the earthworks were on a grand scale and the only tools we were using was a pick and a shovel. All of the retaining walls were "faced" with red brick and as a finishing touch to this phase of the project we put up serveral signs. Well it made a change from either digging or laying bricks!!!
