Some early 3D graphics I did with Fredrik Fatemi. The first two clips are on an EGA monitor around 1989. The second two are on an SGI Iris around 1990. These were shot on Super-8 film, transferred to VHS, then to DVD.

  • Super-8 celluloid film seems like an odd medium to film this on.

  • @RABBIDGamfan You're right, but I had nothing else to convert a series of images to a movie.

  • in minute 0.03, is like a subliminal message, is like a skirt. wtf

  • You're right! I've never seen that. It looks like burned film. Maybe it burned once in the projector?

  • This is actually pretty impressive for the 80s. Was it realtime or prerendered?

  • Pre-rendered. The polygonal frames took a few seconds per frame. The fractal and ray-traced frames took about 30 minutes per frame.

  • @espejismooo Looks like a burnt out frame (from a projector lamp) to me. Haven't seen one of those in years.

  • @espejismooo yeah, 8mm film burns all the time

  • @DollarTaco Gotta love the Mandelbrot set. xD

  • I'm not sure why there was random footage of a fractal there.

  • AWESOME!!!

    especially for the time! =D

  • @lkesteloot looks like a fish to me

  • i use to have an old 1999 computer with windows 98 and it had almost good graphics for modern games lol
