Chris Smither playing his beautiful song 'Caveman', i love the way its just him, his voice, guitar and feet stamping and the song sounds complete and to top it off this is a live performance, amazing stuff! when i get older i gotta learn the fingerpicking style.

  • Hey guys, is there anywhere on the web t now to find a tab for Cave Man??? Or at least can someone tell me what tuning it's in. I could swear it's not standard, but of course I'm not certain. Chris (Smither): if you happen to find this thread, would you please consider showing us how you play it? I'd perform it once in my hands and as it is I tell everyone to buy your music.

    Marcus.

  • Chris has released two songbooks with tabs and lyrics, songbook II has the tab for Caveman, he also has done some instruction videos, go to his site to find out more.

  • hey i just got this song because of you. thx

  • yeah even after a 1000 listens it still amazes me, such a good song. He is touring around the US at the moment, if you get a chance you should see him.

  • Not should, MUST. Seriously.

  • Yeah Must is the word, i'm in the UK, i missed him last year :( Hopefully he comes back this year, I've even considered going to the US just 2 see him live!

  • Bonnie Raitt has done a few covers of Chris songs thats how I came to find out about Chris, he is simply truly amazing, seen him three times now in the uk, he just gets better with age.

  • @zimzoomit think you should "look back the road" and learn something((joke ok)) lets hear you sing it with the changed gender line heh luv it

  • This is a beautiful song. Thanks for introducing me to it.

  • The lyric line of "Look Down The Road" that made me want to learn it, was "I dont want a woman who stays out all night long..I don't want a woman who don't know right from wrong".. when I sung it, I changed the gender line since I'm a female. Boy, does that line wring true for many women who've been duped by the Wrong Man!!!

  • Lyrics to "Look Down The Road" by Smither, began with "Look down the road, as far as I could see, baby...as far as I could see .. No, I couldn't see anything that looked like mine, to me" ..I wish someone would upload that song of him performing it, up here. It's beautiful.

  • The first tune I learned of Chris Smither's was "Look Down The Road", when I was about age 20. I think Bonnie Raitt interpreted/performed songs of his. I recognized him as an excellent song writer, back then. I wish he or someone would upload, for YouTube, a clip of him performing "Look Down The Road"

  • @MarcusFinberry i know it's two years past haha, but whenever i play this song i play it in D-A-D-F#-A-D

  • lol Old Stallone

  • I'm smiling with pleasure :-)

  • belle chanson
