How did you attach the 4x4's to the doubled up 2x beam, and did you secure them to the footing?

After watching Home Depot's how to video I was not sure I wanted to mess with this idea of building a deck! Thanks for making it understandable. The deck I am building is a simple 1 layer 18' by 13' deck 18" off the ground to the door, so it won't be high off the ground at all. Deck plans calls for 2 beams plus the ledger of course.
