Gene, I just happened to come across you on YouTube. You're still fantastic. I remember you from St. Anthony's church hall playing "In My Adobe Hacienda" with your brother. I wonder if you remember me, Dorothea Odierna (now Noll) from Carpenter Ave. and PS 16.

Ramo has an incredibly warm tone...one of his many traits...must be the video and the computer speakers that is giving lakeylove the sound...
P.S. Recently I heard and saw him live in Astoria NY where he plays solo on Saturdays - his huge repertoire is amazing....and he did a Tico Tico that sounded like 3 players!
If I had heard it on a recording I would not believe it was solo guitar.

Ramo's guitar maker Rich DiCarlo was a student of Chuck Wayne. I am a jazz girl buff...I follow the greats around...Ramo is the best I have ever heard and seen live. He caresses every note. Big player - huge musical heart. Ramo is a master violinist also...I had heard about him..but could not believe what I saw in person.

I bought a Gene Bertoncini CD recently but it was recorded about 10 years ago of Jobim tunes. I remember my favorite guitar introduction is Gene Bs on Frank Lloyd Wright with Paul Desmond, Hubert Laws, Billy Cobham, etc. the Bridge over Troubled waters recording from the 70's. HE was a monster than is now a super monster.

great. Gene B is a sweet soul. When I went to school in NY I went to his a place in east 66th st for a lesson, and suddenly while we're going through chord inversions to maybe black orpheus he stops: "oh look! she's there again!" and he points out the window and there's this gorgeous babe on the other side of the street flashing her gorgeous tits and we just stand in awe. Hehe

Michele Ramo is a great player, but his tone is a bit too "nailly" for my taste. Of course I won't pretend that I can play as well as him...I just sound better. Just kidding...
