  • Georgia Tech first played the "Budweiser Song" as a tribute to then head football coach Bud Carson (1967 - 1971) in 1970. It has remained a tradition since.

    From the Wisconsin athletics website:

"Band director Michael Leckrone said the song's popularity got started at a 1975 hockey game ... Leckrone said the song became a football tradition after a 1978 come-from-behind victory over Oregon."

So there you have it, Tech fans. Never let a Badger give you that BS ever again!

  • annnnd no retaliation :) checkmate, wisconsin.

but hey, nobody except GT and Wisconsin can play that song. we've got dibs.

  • HATED that game... i stayed up till 12:00 just to see the outcome... i could have gone to bed at 10:30

  • We played that in my HS band in '78! Got a similar reaction from the crowd!
