The Elegant Universe -1

No religious preachers. When you preach your religion every 5-10 mins in course of a scientific discussion, it basically reflects on your lack of confidence and esteem. It means you cannot even handle an information stream without bringing your own scriptures to the table and getting all defensive!

This video-series talks about the various fources in our universe and the attempts made by Physicists to bring them all under one umbrella, under a [Theory of Everything]. It tries to [illustrate] some of the [physics-centered] problems we face about this universe.

I seriously think that religion and science can be both on the same boat. BUT, this is true, as long as there is some common sense and intelligence in the discussion. I really don't understand how supposedly intelligent people start making agressive statements about each other...let there be some respect. Although I believe in God and don't believe in string theory, I think it is perfectly conceivable.

Only way to avoid it is to lock comments. The religious dolts are everywhere and will always jump at stuff like this. It's simply human nature for many folk that cannot buy the fact that we're not meant for anything and that there is nothing else beyond this life (for us). A sad, selfish bunch that have held back man for eons. One day they will be stifled and any utterance of such nonsense will be outlawed. I look forward to that day.

It is important to attack for social reasons, but its seriously a waste of time trying to attack it philosophically... its not real philosophy anyway!

The silly thing is that even if science found a theory to everything, it wouldn't necessarily disprove religion. Why attack the scientific method that explains "how" when the theist could always just fall back on the "why"?

How come religion contradicts science? It doesn't make sense. God did not descend for a while to say that science is EVIL.
