Matadors win opener going away

The new era in Miramonte Basketball began Thursday night at Miramonte where the Mats defeated Hercules 70-30. The game opened up with a Stephanie Golden basket and the Mats never looked back.

The last time these two teams met the Matadors came away with the victory and the North Coast Section Title. The lights were not as bright and the stakes were not quite as high Thursday night but the Mats needed a good game and they delivered all night long.

Stephanie Golden led the charge with 16 points and 10 rebounds while fellow Senior Kristine Miller chipped in with 14 points. Point Guard Liza Katz rounded out the double digit scoring with 10 points to go along with her 8 assists.

The Matdadors travel to Sonoma next Tuesday to take on the Sonoma Valley Dragons.
